It was the 1968 model that was changed the most during the Beetle history. The introduction of modern engines up to 1.5 l volume and 44 PS made it much easier for the driver to overtake. The Beetle celebrated its unbroken popularity with 1136134 sold cars in 1968. The Bavarian Crono „1968 Beetle cronos“ with their chromium- plated little screws and the 50 km/h bar in fluorescent colour are exactly like the original. Many Beetle fans remember the speedo of the 1968 version with its modern design, the integrated fuel gauge and the symbols on the control lights.
