In May 1957 Jaguar presented the XK 150, the most powerful, most luxurious and, at the same time, the last version of the XK generation.
Initially offered as DHC und FHC the XK 150 featured a new interpretation of the now classic XK design the most obvious being the one-piece windscreen and the larger grille.
A more radical technical improvement were the disc brakes that had been so successful with Jaguar in Le Mans. Jaguar was the first car manufacturer offering this detail in this car class.
The Roadster that was in production a little later highlighted its sporty character with deep cut doors and the bulky bonnet.
The further improved cylinder head of the well-proved XK engine gained 250 hp in the 3.8 liter S version, a remarkable figure that allowed the XK 150 to reach a top speed of 150 mph (thus the denomination...).
With the introduction of the E type in March 1961 the era of the XK ended after 13 successful years – but the XK 120, 140 and 150 remain legendary cars.
